About Mariano, His Business, And Why He Likes It Here
So, Tracy asked if I wanted to have an account on this great blog that she created, and I was excited to jump on board. She’s given me yet another reason to like this area.
I moved to Keyport, a stone’s throw from Matawan, about 3 years ago now when we had our son. The communities here definitely have their appeal, and I love being able to walk over to the Keyport waterfront with my children now to eat breakfast at a local establishment and then enjoy the sights and sounds of the bay as local fishermen and seagulls compete for food. Matawan also is just a short drive away, and the quaint shops and restaurants make it an appealing destination for a quick and easy night out (or even lunch!).
I own a business, Avelient, which provides professional services for large corporations in the areas of web and internal application development (mostly using enterprise-level databases). In the last two years, though, I’ve also been working at developing services that appeal to small-to-mid-sized businesses, including web site design and development, web site hosting, search engine optimization and consultations on good strategies for using social media. We’ve had a lot of interest in these kinds of services in the last few months, and it’s hard to keep up, especially with two little ones at home! But somehow we manage!
I also work on a second business, called SendOutCards, which allows me to maintain client contacts and also just keep up with people that I care about. The concept is that you go to a web site, write out a card (you can choose from over 13,000!) and they’ll print, stuff, and send the card to your recipient. I can’t tell you how positively people react to getting that little message in the mail, even if it’s business related. So few people send cards these days just to say hello that it’s a refreshing surprise to receive one.
I’ve met a lot of people here that have helped me to grow both personally and professionally, and I hope the trend continues as our roots become established in what I consider a great little collection of communities. Tracy has a great idea with this blog and I hope to contribute regularly with my thoughts on Matawan, Aberdeen, Keyport and all things Jersey.
